While people wait for some semblance of pre COVID-19 normalcy, the effects of the global pandemic and other events, both past and present, have shed light upon the various systematic disadvantages minorities face. In hopes of making an impact upon his community, Tremaine Emory and Converse look to raise awareness towards an important message.

Known as denimtears on social media and within the music scene as ½ of No Vacancy Inn, Emory has used his platform to spread important ideas. Channeling his inner artist in tandem with the creative efforts of Converse, the two have created a capsule dedicated to increasing awareness towards civic education and political engagement towards the upcoming presidential debate and beyond. To do this, Emory has outlined the Chuck ’70 in the colors of the Pan-African flag.

In a quote by Brandis Russell, Vice President of Global Footwear, she remarked: “We hope that the application of the African-American flag to our iconic Chuck will encourage dialogue on the Black American experience today and help ignite the change we want to see for a more equitable future”.

With the hopes of sparking dialogue for an equal society for Black people in America, the Denim Tears x Converse Chuck ’70 duo looks to globally release on October 29, 2020 on Converse.com.
