For his first ever Vault by Vans collaboration, Connor Tingley pays homage to LA youth culture. The creative process of this project began all the way back in 2020 in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. After extensive research and care, the collection arrives with two colorways of the Vans Authentic.
Taking inspiration from classic ballpoint pens, the Vans Authentic is offered in “Black” and “Blue.” The “Black” colorway is a Dover Street Market exclusive. Both iterations nod to Vans’ history as Tingley reimagines the brand’s iconic Checkerboard print. The classic square tiles have been around since the ’70s and were made popular by Los Angeles youth culture. Tingley draws over the Checkerboard print mimicking ballpoint pen marks. Zany lines are scribbled across the canvas upper and vulcanized rubber midsole.
