Boston-based Bodega is teaming up with Asics for a death-themed shoe. That’s right — death!
The details of the Bodega x Asics Gel-Mai “Underground” invoke skeleton imagery as the message of the shoe is that no matter what journey we all go on, in the end we will just be dead as a skeleton. While the shoe’s message is morose and not uplifting in the least bit, the collab is very unique.
The upper is made up of just one piece and features totally external, asymmetrical lacing structure. The standard Tiger stripes, which are usually part of the Gel-Mai, are found in a two-dimensional logo on the midsole. The white and orange colorway pay homage to the Gel-Mai roots.
The Bodega x Asics Gel-Mai “Underground” will be released on June 23, only at Bodega and bdgastore.com.
