A Bathing Ape Inspires New Vans Old Skool Custom

Over the past few months, we’ve seen the most iconic skating brand, Vans, collaborate with a multitude of street brands. This summer alone, we’ve seen the Vans come together with Fear of God, Thrasher, UNDFTD and Anti Social Social Club just to name a few.

The hype has taken the culture by storm to say the least. Malcolm Garret, custom shoe designer out of New Jersey, was inspired by all of these collabs and made a couple of pairs of his own.

Inspired by Nigo, Garret took the famous shark teeth seen on many a hoody and placed it along the upper of the Old Skool. The camouflage touch around the lining and collar of the shoe definitely gives it that Bape style we’ve come to know and love. The heel of the shoe contains the Bathing Ape logo and the star mirroring the Bapestas that flew off shelves.

We’ve seen A Bathing Ape collab with adidas and Reebok, perhaps we’ll see them and BBC team up with Vans in the future? Until then, take a look at these customs below and follow Malcolm Garret here for more fire content.
