New Balance’s Tokyo Design Studio has partnered with Japanese label AURALEE for a striking take on the modern contemporary R_C2.
Blending luxury design language with utilitarian aesthetics, the partnership has — in short order — refined what it is that workwear and sneaker sophistication evokes.
Masterfully joining ripstop nylon, varying leather overlays, and waterproof GORE-TEX, reflective detailing gives visibility to this workwear-inspired look that is actually anything but. There’s a conscious straddling of the line, juxtaposing airy outdoor qualities with premium sentimentality. Shades of beige provide a concise nuance to the silhouette’s earthy glow which is matched by leather tongue branding and tonal midsole construction.
