Allbirds and adidas celebrate a new milestone on their mission to move towards zero carbon waste. The brand new Allbirds x adidas Adizero 2.94 KG CO2E makes low-carbon running shoes more accessible than ever.

We’re about to get technical but it’s for good reason, because the Adizero 2.94 KG CO2E has insane specs that deserve a breakdown. Straying from traditional production methods, this Adizero is able to diminish carbon emissions to under 3 kg CO2e – hence the shoe’s name that it proudly boasts. The midsole is bio-based and made with 17% plant-based material. The sockliner follows suit as it’s made of 46% sugarcane content, while the tongue and heel foam contain 17%. The upper has 77% recycled polyester with 23% natural lyocell, a fiber made from sustainably grown wood. Elsewhere the sneaker features 100% recycled polyester on the lining, laces, and embroidery. To promote higher flexibility and save material, the Torsion bar was removed from the outsole. The lightweight upper sits atop a 10% recycled rubber outsole to complete the design. The introductory range comes in four colorways including Core Black/ Bliss, Cloud White/ Carbon, Core Black/Acid Red, and an Allbirds exclusive “Semi Turbo” colorway.

The Allbirds x adidas Adizero 2.94 KG CO2E is available now via adidas.com and select retailers. The sneaker is offered at only $120, an extremely impressive price tag considering all the sustainable benefits.
