In honor of the Air Jordan 3 reaching its 30th anniversary this year, Jordan Brand has tapped into the shoe’s history by referencing its earliest design sketches from Swoosh legend, Tinker Hatfield.

Pulling from infant design sketches that ultimately became the Air Jordan 3 you know and love, a Swoosh marks the lateral paneling while the medial is finished with Nike near the ankle collar. Reinforcements are doubled above the midsole while elephant print appears in customary position. To commemorate the release, Tinker’s name is seen behind the tongue while the heel is punctuated with Nike Air. This, again, represents Tinker’s early sketches of the Air Jordan 3 which, even though it appears strange today, features a Swoosh.

Grab a first look at the Air Jordan 3 “Tinker Hatfield” below and stay tuned for more details.
