Style Code:CT8532-105
Release Date:August 24, 2022

Since the debut of the A Ma Maniere X Air Jordan 3, Michael Jordan’s third signature sneaker has reentered the limelight. The elephant print and leather combination have made the iconic silhouette stand the test of time. Along with pairs like the WMNS Air Jordan 3 “Dark Mocha,” the prized model is slated to release in a “Dark Iris” colorway this summer.

This iteration of the Air Jordan 3 takes upon the famed “Court Purple” colorway and adds a special twist. Rather than have purple as the primary color, a white leather foundation runs across with purple accents appearing along the heel. Elephant print, a purple Jumpman logo, and a grey outsole finish out the design.

The Air Jordan 3 “Dark Iris” is scheduled to release on August 24th via SNKRS and at select retailers for $200 in full-family sizing. Check out the photos below and be sure to keep up-to-date with our Jordan Release Dates page.

About the Air Jordan 3

The Jordan 3 was the first Air Jordan designed by famed and legendary sneaker designer Tinker Hatfield when it hit Michael Jordan’s feet for the 1987-88 season.  While we saw high-top and low-top versions of the Air Jordan signature shoe in the first two models, the Air Jordan 3 was the first mid-top basketball shoe.  The mid-top design allowed for greater flexibility than the high-tops but provided the right amount of stability for the 6-6 basketball prodigy.  Other firsts that the Air Jordan 3 highlight is the first Air Jordan to sport the famous Jumpman logo and the first with a visible Nike Air unit.

History of Court Purple Jordans

While Michael never played in purple, there have been a number of solid purple retro Jordans through the years. While some purple graced the Air Jordan 7, the first that many consider were the Sacramento Jordan 10s that were part of the City Series. Jordan Brand athletes Mike Bibby and Ray Allen had a number of solid PEs in purple and even Kobe Bryant had a few during his sneaker free agency year. Jordan has seen great success with purple retro Jordans as well through the years. Have a look through the best purple Jordans through the years.
