Jordan Brand continues to show love to the Air Jordan 2 as the silhouette’s resurgence has been the vehicle for collaborations, new colorways, and a plethora of stories.
The latest AJ2 pays its respects to Howard “H” White — the brand’s founding figure and current Vice President of Jordan Brand Affairs.
“H” played a pivotal role in bringing MJ to Nike and would later state that the AJ2 was one of his favorite silhouettes. With the recent premiere of AIR, Jordan Brand is giving “H” his flowers, rather his wings, while he can still embrace them.
The Air Jordan 2 “Wings” is inspired by “H”‘s personal journey, including his time at Kecoughtan High School where he first played on a basketball team (represented in the white, green, and black coloring) and is crafted to the original 1987 design specs.
To bring “H”‘s story to life, Jordan Brand worked with future-forward collaborators like Photographer/Director Joshua Woods and Stylist Becky Akinyode to imagine a visual tribute for the legend.
The Wings program, which “H” was fundamental in bringing to fruition, was a part of his vision for Jordan Brand’s community programming as the initiative was designed to help unlock access to higher education, guidance opportunity, and mentorship to youth who need it most — just as “H” mentored some of today’s most renowned icons.
