For the first time since 2002, the Air Jordan 17 OG “Varsity Red” is set to return in 2024. During this silhouette’s debut, the sneaker came packaged in a special silver briefcase, which included a collectors CD, and was priced at $200 — an astronomical MSRP for sneakers at the time.
The Air Jordan 17 OG is the silhouette that Michael Jordan wore when he returned to the game as a Washington Wizard. The “Varsity Red” colorway has a classic “White” upper with “Varsity Red” accents on the lace cover, eyelets, and midsole.
This model features performance innovations that were groundbreaking for Jordan Brand at the time, including Blow-Molded Air technology, a full-length shank plate, and a TPU heel stabilizer. The silhouette is said to have been inspired by jazz music and features musical notes etched onto the removable midfoot cover.
