Avid runners that tear up the track, trail and all other terrain are well versed with Brooks as a leader in the performance running category. The common sneakerhead? Maybe not as much. While the 100 year old brand is certainly familiar in all spheres, the shoe company is channeling its retro roots by focusing on previously unarchived ’90s product, namely the Beast and the Regent.
Though giving storied silos a second run is a common destination for longstanding brands, the path has been a tad different for Brooks. Ever focused on innovation and the modern runner, resurrecting retro models meant re-buying OG pairs on eBay as a starting point. Once pairs were purchased, particular attention was put into making sure the archival detailing was on-point, ranging from the shape to the material choices — a similar sentiment seen on some of the best received retro products from other categories.
From a segmenting standpoint, the shoe’s won’t be seen in any big box retailers but rather sneaker boutiques and high-end department stores.
Fans of the Beast will see the model debut in collaborative form this October via a collaboration with CNCPTS as previewed on the cover of Sneaker Freaker. Two more global collabs are set to follow during the holiday season, with inline drops coming shortly after in 2016.
As for the Regent, colorways are debuting at retail this month with more rolling out all the way into 2016.
Peep a preview below of the Beast and Regent colorways coming up as seen at Agenda Long Beach. Expect another OG Brooks runner to return from the ’90s in Fall of 2016.
