This year has seen a multitude of Chinese New Year inspired drops, paying homage to China’s prominence in sneaker culture. Following the Ultra Boost 2020 & The Ultra Boost DNA, adidas will drop the D.O.N. Issue #2 “Chinese New Year”. The shoe progresses Donovan Mitchell’s signature shoe line in its second iteration, now dropping in a special CNY theme.
The mesh uppers have a Scarlet base, with a Black heel cage overlayed around the back of the foot. The heel cage connects via a Purple tab at the top of the lace-loop structure, which features flat Black laces with Scarlet stippling. Under the laces is a Black mesh tongue with Gold Metallic adidas branding at the top. The graphic on the outer foot is reflective, while the inner foot is decorated by a Gold panel. The Flexible Bounce midsole arrives in Black, with Gold splatter throughout. A Scarlet graphic on the otherwise Black rubber outsole completes the graphic from the outer foot. The recognizable D.O.N. Sense logo is found along the heel cage in Gold to wrap up the model.
