Julius Erving, better known as Dr. J, gained superstar status as a pioneer of the ABA and later as an All-Star in the NBA. The acrobatic scorer earned MVP and Championship honors in both leagues while becoming a fan favorite and one of the most entertaining players ever. With unforgettable highlights such as the ‘baseline move’ and ‘Rock the Baby Dunk’, the former Squire, Net, and Sixer will forever be remembered as one of the greatest players ever. Dr. J was endorsed by Converse and was the recipient of a signature collection. The Pro Leather was a sleek basketball shoe that was offered in high and low top. The shoe is also famous because Michael Jordan wore them while at North Carolina. As a Sixer, Converse released The Dr. J, an updated version of the Pro Leather that offered more padding and support as well as a Dr. J logo and signature. Near the end of his career he was used to endorse the Converse Star Tech alongside fellow NBA legends and Converse signees Magic Johnson and Larry Bird. Since his retirement Converse has released the Pro Leathers and also introduced The Dr. J 2000.
