Nice Kicks: You recently got to tour the Nike Campus, how was that?
Dan Levy: That was the best thing ever. The tour was unbelievable. We went to all the buildings, the Bo Jackson building, the Michael Jordan building, the Tiger Woods building. The Michael Jordan building was amazing?all the shoes, the history of the Spike Lee commercials. Nike’s such a great company, they recycle shoes and turn them into soccer fields. They practice so much fitness; there’s gyms everywhere. If a meeting gets canceled they’ll just go run! Like, “oh the meetings canceled so lets go workout hardcore for 90 minutes like Lance Armstrong!” It’s crazy. The employee store was unbelievable. Massive. I may have spent all my money there.
Nice Kicks: You also collect knives, how do these two collections coexist?
Dan Levy: The knife collection is from when I was younger and I just carried it with me. I don’t still collect knives, but I do use my knives when cleaning my sneakers. After I go out if there’s rocks or dirt in the soles I’ll use my knives to get it out and then scrub them with bleach. I’m like a sneaker MacGyver.
Nice Kicks: We saw you a Twitpic of your wife surrounded by your sneakers. Has married life affected collecting?
Dan Levy: Married life hasn’t changed collecting, but she doesn’t want me buying any more sneakers! Here’s the great thing though, I have so many sneakers and she’s not a sneakerhead. All I have to do is change around the boxes and she doesn’t know when I got new ones! She works all day, I do comedy so I’ll just change them around when she’s at work. It’s our little secret.
