Nice Kicks: You’re on the road a lot, how do you keep up on releases?
Dan Levy: Nice Kicks and my brother Jon. I mean honestly the internet. Sometimes I call people at Niketown but for the most part just the web. I can go on your site and catch up every week or so and see what’s happening. But sometimes they’ll just drop shoes unexpectedly.
Nice Kicks:?Quickstrikes?
Dan Levy: Exactly. The Trainer SC. Those are ridiculous. But they dropped out of nowhere. And I love those. I think a lot of teenagers don’t really know how great those are. Sometimes weird suburbs are the best place to get a ridiculous pair of sneakers because most people don’t realize they’re sitting on gold.
Nice Kicks: You went to school in Boston and later lived in New York and Los Angeles. How does the sneaker scene differ in each city?
Dan Levy: When I was in college Crystals was awesome, now Bodega’s pretty cool. New York City is a ridiculous place for sneakers. Same with LA. LA has UNDFTD, Flight Club, Sportie LA, House of Hoops, even Niketown. LA might be the best city.
Nice Kicks: In your bit you talked about meeting some other celebs due to sneakers, how’d that work out?
Dan Levy: I saw Justin Timberlake at the gym and he was wearing Air Jordan 3s. I told him I liked his sneakers and he said “oh these are my whateva whateva shoes” and it’s became part of my act and now people are constantly tweeting or screaming at me “whateva whateva” ALL THE TIME. I love it, it’s so funny that me liking sneakers allowed me to meet someone like that and become part of my show.

Nice Kicks:? Not every occasion or venue is it appropriate for sneakers.? I heard on this latest tour you’re just doing dress shoes.
Dan Levy: I mainly wear sneakers when I perform, but I’m doing a theatre tour with Aziz so we wear suits. When I did my Comedy Central Presents I wore the Black/Red-Green Spizikes. When it’s just me I wear sneakers, but when I do theaters I wear suits. Fitted suits just don’t work right with sneakers. I’ve done it with the Air Jordan 1s and the Space Jams but I’m used to skinny jeans (laughs) it just doesn’t look as good.
