The Air Jordan 3 is among the most popular models in the storied Air Jordan signature line. Visible Air, elephant print, and the Jumpman logo are all seen on a Jordan for the first time on the Air Jordan 3. Michael Jordan added to the popularity of the sneaker by wearing them in the 1988 Dunk Contest. Original colorways of the Air Jordan 3 include White/Cement, Black/Cement, "Fire Red", and "True Blue". The Air Jordan 3 was designed by Tinker Hatfield.
In 1994 the Air Jordan 3 returned in retro form for the first time. Since then it has returned in all original colorways as well as new makeups such as the "Mocha", "Flip", "Cool Grey", and "Doernbecher".
