In celebration of FILA’s rich history that spans over a century, the heritage-based brand has partnered with streetwear mainstay Akomplice, for a multilayered release that equally celebrates the apparel company’s founder’s childhood.
Drawing creative inspiration from the Yucatan, where Akomplice co-founder Patrick Liberty calls the town of Akumal home, this rendering of the Original Fitness explores the region’s unique and depth filled ecosystem. A light green insole, tongue tag and heel represent the jungle foliage and the Caribbean Sea. What follows is a rich purple shade on the outsole, logo and lining, which stands for ocean coral and the fruit produced by the tropical climate. To finish this widely varied tonal representation, a light brown base symbolizes the sand and limestone on which the region is founded.
