Following collaborations with Raf Simons and Craig Green, adidas has tapped British fashion designer, Grace Wales Bonner, for a special range of footwear.
Having originally debuted on the London Fashion Week runway earlier this year, the forthcoming adidas Originals by Wales Bonner collaborative capsule collection includes the adidas SL72 and the Samba sneaker. For the range, Wales Bonner decided to pay homage to the late Jam Master Jay and the iconic DJ’s sense of style, in addition to her own Jamaican heritage.
First up, the Wales Bonner x adidas SL72 boasts a ’70s-inspired outfit of corduroy matched with rich velvet and antique leather overlays. This silhouette arrives in either a “Trace Pink/Collegiate Orange-Maroon” and “Hemp/Maroon-Forest Green” and comes equipped with a tricolor rubber outsole.
For the collection, Wales Bonner also offers up two iterations of adidas’ classic Samba model, each paired with crochet and hand-stitched detailing, as well as an elongated tongue. The Wales Bonner x adidas Samba will arrive in both a “Core Black/Cream White” and “Cream White/Brown” outfit.
Interested readers will be able to pick up the adidas Originals by Wales Bonner styles starting November 20 at select retailers and adidas.com. A range of matching apparel items will coincide with the footwear releases. The collection will retail between $100 to $300.
