Midnight Studios’ Shane Gonzales and Vault by Vans are linking up for the first time ever to unveil a collaborative footwear capsule filled with the latter’s classic silhouettes.
Dubbed the Vault by Vans x Shane Gonzales “Star Spangled Glamour” Collection, the range comprises three Vault by Vans silhouettes, the Vans Old Skool VLT LX, Vans Authentic Zip VLT LX, and Vans Sk8-Hi Reissue Strap VLT LX, all injected with Gonzales’ rock ‘n roll aesthetic.
Each silhouette in the range has been injected and inspired by All-American motifs including cowboy boots, denim jackets and leather coats. To establish these inspirations, chrome, leather, and denim is heavily used throughout the range as seen on the Black leather Old Skool VLT LX sneaker which features traditional Western cowboy embroidery. Over on the Authentic Zip VLT LX, the reimagined classic is crafted from blue denim with hidden laces and chrome detailing. Lastly, the Sk8-Hi Reissue Strap VLT LX serves in black leather and boasts several riders’ jacket details such as collars, epaulets and buckles.
“Collaborating with Vans is such a full circle moment for me. My friends and I grew up skating in Vans every day to and from school. Drawing on them, and thrashing them until they weren’t wearable anymore. When I got the opportunity to create my own collection, I wanted to re-imagine the 3 Vans silhouettes that bring me back to my childhood, and incorporate timeless all-American motifs into the design that I know will wear beautifully over time,” says Shane Gonzales.
