To celebrate its innovative MTE (Made for The Elements) collection, Vans sent a giant replica pair to drive around New York City.

The 10-foot “Vans vans” replicate the label’s adventure-inspired Sk8-Hi MTE-3, a model designed to battle against cold weather, and features all kinds of similar details including Van’s iconic checkerboard print. The vans drove from Upstate New York, through Manhattan’s crowded Meatpacking District to Anthony & Son Panini Shoppe in Williamsburg, Brooklyn and Long Island City, before ending in the Upper West Side.

To assist with the event, New York Nico and Lil Mo Mozzarella welcomed guests while they tried out the latest Vans MTE styles first-hand.

“This is something new for the brand,” Vans Creative Director, Bruno Luglio said. “Vans has a long history of hosting unique events but this time we decided to do something different, because the product is different. Our goal is to illustrate the benefits of MTE in a bigger way, no pun intended – It’s a product demo meets product test drive”.

The latest Vans MTE styles are now available to shop at Vans retailers and Vans.com. For more sneakers you can cop, check out our Sneaker Release Dates Calendar.
