Although you may avoid grip tape like the plague (or are asking a friend what grip tape is right now), lots of people use their skate shoes for their intended purpose. Perfect example, this past weekend some of the best to ever put their soles on grip tape gathered in Southern California for the Maloof Money Cup. The event is one of the biggest events in skateboarding. For any event, big money brings out the best, both for the competition, as well as the fans. Maloof Sports & Entertainment has come up with nearly half a million dollars in prize money, so you can bet that the competition was tough.
For those of us that weren’t able to make the event, NBC is holding us down with the coverage. The Maloof Money Cup will air this Sunday July 19 on NBC at 11a.m. PST/2p.m. EST.
