Air Jordan IX

Michael Jordan retired in 1993 to the dismay of many fans across the world. However, Nike was in shock as well. What would they do with Jordan’s 9th signature pair of kicks, especially since he would not be on the hardwood to market them ? Nike quickly cooked up an ad campaign to inform the public that Michael was indeed on the hardwood. Jordan appeared in commercials showcasing the Air Jordan IX under the aliases Calvin Bailey, Bentley Ellis, and Johnny Kilroy, playing for teams such as Crawfish and Gary. The campaign was efficient in debuting the Air Jordan IX since Michael was actually in Alabama playing for the Birmingham Barons. These infamous kicks have a special place in Jordan history, since Jordan never debuted them in the NBA although we did see Jordan sport these as cleats when he was with the Barons.
