For their latest innovative collaboration, Stone Island partners with the New Balance Tokyo Design Studio to release a pack of FuelCell C_1 sneakers. The silhouettes explores the concept of how the human bridges the gap between man-made and cotton elements with a unique knit upper that features manufactured synthetic with cotton.
“The synergy of New Balance and Stone Island is reflected through the shoe,” said James Lee, Lead Footwear Designer at New Balance. The bold design elements of the shoe serve a purpose beyond aesthetics as the extended outsole strategically counterbalances the toe push-off, enhancing the energy-returning sensation of the FuelCell technology. The debut colorway draws inspiration from the archival Stone Island camouflage of Autumn/Winter 1990.
I consider what Stone Island and New Balance are doing a real collaborative relationship. Both parties agreed to work on a new New Balance model to bring this collaboration to life.
