More often than not we hear of senseless acts of violence or extreme levels of selfishness that hits our community all in the pursuit of sneakers. Being that today is Father’s Day, we wanted to highlight an uplifting story about the strength of a friendship from one father to another.
Earlier this month, Julio Garcia-Camacho was murdered in Lancaster, PA who was a father of four, friend to many, and a sneakerhead. The news of his passing was not only mentioned throughout local news in the area, but also too in sneaker circles by many paying their respects to Julio.
Justin Amazing, a friend of Julio’s since high school took it upon himself in the wake of the tragedy to help his family by various means, but most recently brought to Julio’s final resting place two pairs of shoes that he knows Julio would have wanted.
Last year, Julio thanked Justin on Instagram for being “The Plug” on the Cigar and Champagne Jordan 6s. Knowing Julio’s love for those shoes along with many other retro Jordans, Justin tracked down and delivered the Cigar and Champagne Air Jordan 7s for Julio and his family.
At the time of this post, Julio’s killer has still not been identified. Lancaster Police ask anyone with information to call them at (717) 735-3300 or Lancaster City-County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-322-1913.
