Tell us a little about you and your position at the store:

Name: Corey Bacon, Owner. After years of working for other people and wrestling with management, I decided to save everything I could to pursue my own endeavor.

What makes your store special?: We have an excellent staff, premium products, a great atmosphere and knowledge/love for the sneaker game. Rock City Kicks is the first sneaker boutique in Arkansas, and I believe that we’re raising the bar above and beyond the ‘same ‘ol same ‘ol.’

Shoe that got you hooked: The black Air Jordan V.

Last pair you purchased: “Copper” Nike Air Foamposite

Favorite pair you don?t own: Tough question. I’m going with the Adidas ZX8000 “Darth Vader”
Amount of pairs you own: 230 pairs at the moment. I had to start narrowing the collection down to make room for new ones.

Top 3 of all-time:
black Air Jordan V, Adidas Micropacer, Nike Air Trainer Max ’91 Black/White. I had all of these before I was 15. I love sneakers, but at that age, there was nothing cooler.

Which upcoming release are you looking forward to?:
I’m actually really interested to see how Eric Koston’s new SB will turn out. The old eS Koston was awesome. For now, I’d say the Air Jordan 6 Retro White/Black is a must have.

If I were not a shop owner, I’d be somebody’s disgruntled employee.

One reason why shoes matter:
‘Cause flip-flops and socks just don’t cut it.

One reason you love shoes: Sneakers cross all cultural lines. I can’t tell you how many people I’ve met and become friends with based on conversations about sneakers. Seriously, who doesn’t like sneakers?

One thing that you dislike about the shoe game: I feel like we’re seeing less and less originality in the major sneaker game right now. There are a lot of great retro releases, hybrids, and alternate colorways of shoes currently, but where are the next generation’s classics?
Anything else you want to tell our readers?: I’d like to say thanks to everybody for supporting Rock City Kicks. I know I’ve been pleasantly surprised with the amount of attention and willingness to step out of the box here in Little Rock. We’ve also had a lot of great customers out of state. Thanks a million for your help and support. Let us know if we can do anything for you… 501-660-7888 and check out rockcitykicks.com.
