Salehe Bembury, footwear designer for Versace and the latest creative genius to team up with New Balance, was stopped by Beverly Hills police during the early afternoon of October 1.

Bembury recently walked out of the store with a Versace shopping bag as he was approached and interrogated by police. According to the officers who stopped Bembury, he was jaywalking which led to an ID search. Bembury, who documented the last moments of the interaction, describes the situation while one of the officers tries to justify the actions that took place.

“I’m walking back to my car and all of a sudden this cop car pulls up on me on the corner with the quickness. They hop out the car super fucking fast. They ask me to turn around, patted me down, he took my phone. Scary moment. I’m safe and I’m good. I was doing nothing wrong. Casually walking down the street walking with a big ass Versace bag,” said Salehe Bembury via his IG stories.

Take a look at Bembury’s IG video below as he documents the end of the interaction with him and two Beverly Hills police officers. Donté Coley, Deon Point, Joe Perez, Jerry Lorenzo, Van Lathan, and many others commented to not only support Bembury but to callout the officers for their actions as well.
