Adidas will undergo another major change as North America President Rupert Campbell will depart from the company.
“We regret to inform you that Rupert Campbell, president Adidas North America, has decided to leave Adidas to pursue other opportunities,” according to an internal memo obtained by WWD.
Campbell first joined the brand in 2012 as a retail director and moved up to Senior Vice President for Europe until 2015. He returned as a Managing Director for the brand’s Russian operations in 2018 and became president of North America in January 2022.
Campbell joined the company as Adidas faced racism and discrimination accusations within its Portland headquarters. He was brought on to help repair relationships within the company and also help the brands’ sales.
Rupert has been responsible for enhancing Major League Soccer through Adidas’ league-wide sponsorship, the company’s Name, Image, and Likeness program, the Adidas Hip-Hop 50 celebration with Run-D.M.C. this summer, and more.
“We thank Rupert for his contributions to the success of Adidas over the last 11 years and wish him the very best for all his future endeavors,” the brand said in a statement to Nice Kicks while confirming his departure.
Campbell’s last day is October 27 and executive board member Arthur Hoeld will oversee the department until a successor is found.
