Continuing his successful partnership with Nike, one that spans footwear, apparel and accessories, design extraordinaire Riccardo Tisci of Givenchy fame reveals his new “Victorious Minotaurs” offering centered around his undying love for sports, namely basketball.
“In the 90s, basketball players became kind of like rock stars,” Tisci states. “But now, they are more than rock stars. They’re superhuman — representative of historic mythology.” As he’s done in the past, Tisci updates the classic hoops style, Nike’s Air Force 1, with vintage basketball markings. With the unique ability to create contemporary design with both new and old methodology, Tisci’s obsession with the AF1 remains the focal point of much of his footwear offerings with Nike.
“I’m obsessed with the shoe,” he confesses. “It’s very clean and pure, but at the same time elaborate. It’s the shoe that best represents my style and my collaboration with Nike.”
