Midway into Ray Allen?s 16th NBA season, he made a jump in footwear. No, not just from Nike to Jordan Brand, but from a size 13 to a size 14, and later on to a size 15. The move was made to ease issues with foot pain. Allen spoke to CSNNE.com about the change.

?My feet were always hurting. I was at shootaround in Detroit two years ago, I was running through it, and when I got back to the bus, it was just like the shoes, my orthotics ? I called over to Nike and said, ?The next shoe allotment, send it to me in 15s.? I?ve been a 15 ever since.”

Not only did sizing up help his feet issues, it also improved his ankle health. Coming off a series of ankle injuries, Allen further credited the change in footwear:

“Down in my ankles, I need that blood to flow. Sometimes if the shoe?s too tight, you just feel pressure on your feet.?

Allen?s story serves as potential advice to those dealing with feet and ankle issues and also insight to PE hunters wondering why Ray?s makeups pop up in three different sizes.
