PUMA isn’t new to this basketball game.

Sure, the brand is a new face on the court to most, but after the heritage of PUMA and basketball extend far deeper than the nearly two decades they took as a break from the sport.

This weekend PUMA is rereleasing two OGs in the sport from the 1970s and 1980s – the Basket 90680 and Sky LX Mid.

The Puma Basket 90680 is a one-to-one remake of the brand’s breakthrough basketball shoe from 1971. This version of the Basket was also the one worn by Walt “Clyde” Frazier prior to getting his own signature shoe with PUMA. For this bring back, the Basket comes dressed in premium cream leather and suede.

In a 2018 interview with Bobbito Garcia, we spoke with the NYC Hip-Hop, Basketball, and Sneaker legend about his favorite PUMAs through the years when he referred to the Sky LX as a “shutdown shoe.” Bobbito continued, “Especially if you were seen in Harlem or the Bronx wearing the Sky LX. The savvy sneakerhead would look at you and give you the nod that you knew what was up. That was the divider shoe.”

Like with the Basket, the Sky LX Mid returns in premium white leather and whisper white suede.

Where to Buy

Both will be available at select PUMA retailers on January 18th including Feature. The Basket 90680 is priced at $90 while the Sky LX Mid is priced at $120.
