As our exploration into the 2000s continues to inform modern-day design language, Nike’s internal pool for which they can dive extends to the greatest depths.

The recently revealed Nike P-6000 CNPT is proof of those eras’ current influence in sneakers, and that the Beaverton-based company can look to its own past designs to guide contemporary reinterpretation.

This technical runner glances back almost two decades for styling inspiration, taking the very busy and expressive essence of the early 2000s to match on-trend themes of now. Blending leather and mesh compartments with the overt nature of patent leather, the shoe’s “over the top” way of being is something that has come to be not just accepted, but largely desired.

The Nike P-6000 CNPT will debut in two colorways — Metallic Silver/White-University Red and Triple Black — in the months to come. Stay tuned for more details.

Update 1/22: Alongside the Metallic Silver colorway, Nike is set to release a Black/White iteration of its P-6000 CNPT. This pair is expected in May.
