NIKEiD Partners with Olivia Kim to Reimagine Her Favorite Cortez Colorway from Mid ’70s

In continued celebration of the Nike Cortez during its 45th anniversary campaign, NIKEiD has partnered with Olivia Kim, VP of Creative Projects at Nordstrom, to reimagine one of her favorite Cortez colorways from the mid-’70s.

Kim, a long time fan of the timeless Swoosh silhouette, was a lover of an elder navy pair that classically fused suede and nylon construction. Thus, in conjunction with returning the navy colorway, Kim added her own touches of baby pink to the weathered midsole bolstering the shoe’s retro feel. An off-white label, unfinished tongue and more nostalgic detailing aids that aesthetic. “OK,” Kim’s initials, are stamped throughout the footbed and an accompanying dust bag.

“The Cortez is an iconic sneaker and a staple of LA style and youth culture,” remarked Kim. “I’ve been wearing Nikes since I was a kid, and the Senorita Cortez from the late ’70s was the first Cortez I remember. For the 45th Anniversary of Cortez, and as a tribute to that sneaker, I wanted to reinterpret it with some original elements but flower it with a bit of 2017.”

Expect the Nike Cortez Premium iD by Olivia Kim on June 17 at Nordstrom x Nike in select Nordstrom stores, and June 19 on NIKEiD.
