Nike Pays Tribute to Long Beach with 45th Anniversary Cortez

The Nike Cortez and the Greater Los Angeles area have been synonymous with one another since the shoe’s inception almost half a century ago. This early 1970’s style is currently in the midst of its 45th anniversary, for which Nike odes to Long Beach County — a key region in the shoe’s emergence in LA gang culture, among other things.

Coated in shades of blue that indirectly tie to a certain Los-Angeles originated group that we need not mention, the Nike Cortez XLV “Long Beach County” encapsulates a lengthy history specific to a region and a wide range of sneaker purists over decades.
