The Nike Mercurial has turned 15, and to celebrate the occasion, Nike is releasing a very limited edition of the Mercurial Vapor IX. Deemed the Nike Mercurial Vapor IX Special Edition “El Fenómeno”, the celebratory boot pays tribute to the Brazilian phenom, Ronaldo. The original was worn in France during the summer of ’98, and Ronaldo’s cleats captured the attention of the world with their vibrant royal and blue color scheme. Don’t think that is just any re-release, however, because it isn’t. The Mercurial Vapor IX Special Edition features all of the innovations of the Mercurial Vapor IX, but with the classic Brazilian-themed color scheme. The “El Fenómeno” Mercurial Vapor IX Special Edition will be limited to 1,998 pairs and will be available for pre-order on May 2, 2013 through Nike Store for $350.
