A course set in motion with the Nike KD 9, which reduced its cost by $30 in relation to its predecessor, the Nike KD 8, Nike is now lessening retail cost of the LeBron James signature line.

Starting with the upcoming Nike LeBron 14, the shoe will carry a retail cost of $175 in lieu of its customary $200 entry-level price point.

Some will say this is due to slower sales heightened by increased cost in the Nike Basketball sector. And that may very well be true to a certain degree. Yet, it seems as if Nike hopes to maintain dominance in this space, accessibility is key. That starts with reasonable pricing.

Stay tuned for more on the Nike LeBron 14 and the ongoing conversation regarding the shift in cost structure for performance basketball sneakers.
