The Nike KD 4 is probably the most popular KD sneaker of all time and Durant himself said on Twitter it’s time for a Protro of the sneaker.
The conversation stemmed from a Nick DePaula tweet of Ja Morant’s footwear so far this season in which he’s been breaking out the Nike KD 4 and asked for a Protro in which KD quote tweeted “I thinks it’s about time”.
Protro, or Performance Retro, was introduced on the Nike Kobe series as Nike has re-released past Kobe sneakers with modern tech updates. As Nike and Kobe’s estate have parted ways, it seems like a good fit for the Protro legacy to continue with the Nike KD series.
The Nike KD 4 introduced iconic colorways that still are featured today such as the Aunt Pearl and Weatherman. A potential Protro would hopefully feature some of the most iconic colorways of the KD 4 and an updated cushioning setup, such as a Zoom strobel setup which has been used on the KD series since the Nike KD 12.
