Nike Alphafly 3 Breaks Marathon World Record in Chicago

Fast keeps getting faster.

History was made over the weekend as Kenya’s Kelvin Kiptum broke the marathon world record in Chicago with a time of 2:00:35 while running in the upcoming Nike Alphafly 3.

The latest super shoe from Nike, which is releasing in early 2024, was also worn by Sifan Hassan as she won the women’s marathon with a time of 2:13:44 — the second fastest marathon of all time.

The Alphafly 3 carries similar design cues from its predecessors with a lightweight Atomknit upper, Zoom Air pods in the forefoot, a full-length carbon fiber plate, and a responsive ZoomX midsole. However, official details have not been disclosed.

The record was previously held by marathon legend Eliud Kipchoge at the 2022 Berlin Marathon with a time of 2:01:09 while running in the Nike Alphafly 2.
