This Nike Air VaporMax Plus Is Inspired By Ken Griffey’s Spider Man Comparison

Ken Griffey is one of the few baseball stars to be considered an icon, synonymously associated with the Seattle Mariners. The Kid took part of various historic sports moments, including his ’91 “Spider-Man” catch. Inspired by the moment, Nike has curated an Air VaporMax Plus for the occasion.

While no outright design mentioning the friendly-neighborhood superhero, subtle hints appear throughout the pair. Nike has implemented a web design on the insole, which then entangles Griffey’s 24 number in light-blue threads, all of which pay homage to his time with the Mariners and the iconic moment in mind. The exterior features a “Freshwater” style colorway, mixing teal with white and black. Underfoot, a VaporMax bottom is tinted in black.

Look for the Nike Air VaporMax Plus “Griffey” to release on Nike.com for $200 alongside three other tributing silhouettes. Be sure to check out official photos of the upcoming model below.
