The Air Max Dn marks the debut of Nike’s Dynamic Air innovation.
It’s been more than 30 years since the Air Max saga began. What at first seemed outlandish and unconventional as Nike was ready to reveal its Air unit through , has turned into a staple of a franchise for the Swoosh.
With Air Max Day around the corner this spring, Nike has officially announced its latest model — the Nike Air Max Dn.
The Air Max Dn is lead by Nike’s latest evolution of Air with its Dynamic Air innovation. Housed in a new dual-chamber, four-tubed Nike Air unit, Dynamic Air is designed for everyday comfort, an easy heel-to-toe transition and a bounce-like sensation.
The dual-pressure air unit is comprised of two pressurized chambers, each with two tubes. The two chambers are specifically tuned with higher pressure in the back two tubes (15 psi) and lower pressure in the front two tubes (5 psi).
“We call it ‘dynamic motion,’” said Reggie Hunter, Product Director for Nike Lifestyle Footwear. “The independent setup of the chambers means that the air unit can respond to the load of your body with each step. The feeling of heel-to-toe movement is seamless because the air unit is interacting in real time with your foot and moves with you. The Nike Air Max Dn was the first time we were able to unlock that feeling.”
As air moves freely with each step, the Nike Air Max Dn is a continuation of Nike’s commitment for the everyday athlete with performance and innovation at the core of the design process.
The Air Max Dn is also design with a stabilizing TPU heel counter, a mesh upper with a futuristic haptic overlay textured print, phylon foam injected to nestle the Air unit, a TPU shank arch clip for mid-foot support and a sturdy rubberized outsole that crescendos into the heel for a streetwear appearance.
“Dynamic Air raises our benchmark for what Air feels like,” said Kathy Gomez, Nike VP, NXT Footwear. “We’re always raising our expectations of what we can deliver for athletes. We’re using every tool at our disposal and every bit of our expertise to create new sensations with Air, while doing it more precisely.
“We’re creating something that’s legitimately pushing the boundaries of what’s possible with comfort and motion — and this is just the beginning of the future of Air,” Gomez added.
The Nike Air Max Dn in the “All Day” colorway releases on March 26, 2024, for Air Max Day with more colorways down the pipeline.
