The Nike Air Max 97 Gets a Modern “Sashiko” Colorway

Taking inspiration from Japanese craftsmanship, the Nike Air Max 97 “Sashiko” reimagines the traditional stitching style. Nike gives the embroidery an unconventional finish with bright pastels, which isn’t usually seen with sashiko.

Rather than using traditional denim, this Nike Air Max 97 uses Navy Blue suede as the base and patchwork denim accents. The tiled patchwork can be spotted throughout the sneaker’s multi-layered structure. The top two stripes are made with reflective 3M, giving the sneaker a futuristic shine. The sneaker incorporates shades of pastel Mint and Coral, adding a modern twist to the sashiko style.

The Nike Air Max 97 “Sashiko” is expected to drop sometime later this year, so be sure to check back with our Sneaker Release Dates page. More details should be available soon, but until then take a look at the sneaker below and follow @NiceDrops on Twitter.
