To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Nike Air Force 1, the creatives at Nike have launched an Air Force 1 Mid that recalls the epic journey of the famous basketball silhouette that’s inspired by Japanese Izakaya culture.
The pair arrives in a cream textile canvas base with tan leather overlays, followed by black Nike Checks on each side. Unlike most mid-tops, the iteration features removable tongue tags highlighting each design from ’82 to ’22 inspired by a receipt after a night of eating and drinking at an Izakaya bar. Elsewhere, a star/Swoosh motif is embroidered onto the left ankle, paired with graphics of two cartoon-like beavers on the right. Finishing touches include cork detailing on the heels along with rubber soles.
