The Nike Air Force 1 “West Indies” first debuted in 2002 in honor of the West Indian Day Parade Carnival. The festival is held annually on the first Monday in September, as people dance around the Crown Heights neighborhood in Brooklyn, New York. After 20 years from its initial release, the Nike Air Force 1 “West Indies” is finally returning.

Throughout the early 2000’s there were four different colorways of this Nike Air Force 1, but the upcoming iteration honors the OG. The upper has a white leather base with green accents on the outsole, sockliner, tongue tag, and heel tab. The standout feature here is the West Indies embroidery on the heel counter, which has red and green front with a small yellow palm tree. West Indies branding also appears on the tongue tag and lace dubrae. Yellow Nike Air embroidery on the back of the heel tab completes the design. This sneaker is undoubtedly a memorable moment in Nike history and its return helps the brand to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the Air Force 1.

The West Indies Air Force 1s give love to many of the islands of the Caribbean. The following are the countries written on the insole of the shoe:

Grenada
Haiti
Jamaica
St. Lucia
Curacao
St. Vincent & the Grenadines
Dominica
Antigua and Barbuda
Trinidad and Tobago
Barbados
Montserrat
Aruba
Martinique
Bahamas
St. Kitts and Nevis

An interesting little fact, on the insole of the West Indies Air Force Ones, Grenada is written twice as many times as any other country.

The Nike Air Force 1 Low “West Indies” is going to be available on August 26th at Nike and select retailers. The retail price is set at $150. For more sneaker news and release dates, follow @NiceKicks on Instagram.
