Japan is home to some of the most beautiful wonders of the world and the country honors this year round with many different Matsuris, which is the Japanese word for festival. To celebrate Japan’s different festivals, Nike will be releasing an Air Force 1 Low “Matsuri.”

Japan’s Matsuris happen in different regions of the country and celebrate different aspects of Japanese culture. Some common elements that you can expect to see at Matsuris are lanterns, floats, dragons, shrines, and parades full of colorful garments. You can see the Matsuri inspiration on this Air Force 1 Low, with its beautiful patchwork that includes a variety of textiles to represent the different festivals. Nike’s signature Swoosh is made of cherry wood suede, that may represent the sacred Omizutori Matsuri, in which Buddhists burn torches at Todaiji Temple. Finishing details of the Air Force 1 include a translucent sole, red shoelace caps, and a Kanji Logo stamped on the back of the heel tab.

The Nike Air Force 1 Low “Matsuri” is set to release sometime in 2021 via select retailers and Nike.com. Be sure to check out official images below and follow our Sneaker Release Dates page for updates on the drop.
