A trainer built for a man with more style than the gridiron or baseball diamond could contain, the Diamond Turf not only helped on-field trainers become lifestyle sneakers, it seamlessly validated trainers for upcoming signature athletes not nicknamed “Primetime.”
The Nike Air Diamond Turf was a catalyst with far-reaching cultural implications. Deion Sanders was larger than life but his sneakers weren’t. They were accessible and priced within reason, yet stylish enough that a lack of exclusivity didn’t bother those who had a pair.
They’ll be returning to stores soon, likely in limited numbers to start followed by wider availability near summer. And even though Deion has stated that he’ll never work with Nike again, his signature collection remains one of their best to date.
