New Balance’s Super Team 33 is back to their old tricks of retooling a classic running silhouette into something completely different. Last year Super Team 33 did a majority of their work on the New Balance 1500 as well as cooked up several limited packages of the 576. The Team starts off ’08 with the release of their luxurious Luggage Collection that was executed on the New Balance M998.
The M998 originally hit the scene in 1992 being a choice runner amongst long distance runners because of its light weight and Abzorb cushioning that extends about ¾ the length of the shoe. Each of the shoes in the set represent a unique style of luggage from Europe. The crocodile skin represents the fine Italian bags, the black and red utilizes canvas and patent leather to represent Swiss luggage, and lastly the red/purple represent the travel trunks – the original product that luxury brand Louis Vuitton produced.
Like all Super Team 33 shoes, they are hand crafted in the US and will only be available at the chosen 33 stores. They are available now at Atmos Tokyo.
