Teyana Taylor: When I wore those, it was just something I had to pull out. I had to go to my stash. I had a pair when I was younger, but of course I grew out of them. Finding the Mutombos was my mission. I go all in.?As a sneakerhead, I wear what I like. It?s doesn?t matter if it?s popular or forgotten about, I like what I like. I like to tell stories when I do them. So, when I brought out the Mutombos, it was a ?White Men Can?t Jump? kind of story. That put the whole look together. A lot of people don?t understand it, but they respect it. When I was younger, I was all about Do the Right Thing, Above the Rim, Fresh Prince (of Bel-Air), and Martin. All of those kinds of TV shows inspired my style as far as a sneakerhead, and the fits I put with my sneakers.”
