To kick of the “OZMORPHIS” collection comes the Mr. Bailey x adidas Originals “OZLUCENT.” UK-based designer, Dan Bailey, continues on with his theme of marine biology as the Aurelia Aurita, also known as the Moon Jellyfish, inspires his latest adidas silhouette.

The Aurelia Aurita is an enigma known for its alluring life cycle. It starts out as a Polyp, a simple jelly structure that looks like an seafloor plant; which inspired the OZLUCENT’s heel structure. The Ephyra phase influenced the mid portion of the shoe and is the phase just before the Aurelia Aurita splits off into its final Jellyfish form known as the Medusa.

Despite the opalescent shades of pink and purple associated with Jellyfish, Mr. Bailey’s adidas Originals “OZLUCENT” goes all-black, much like the deepest depths of the ocean. The overall structure of the shoe isn’t too far off from its Basketball origins, but as you take a closer look at the details, you’ll be left in awe by the sneaker’s polyurethane cage that protects the inner neoprene bootie. The model is created using three separate molds that gives the silhouette a futuristic finish. Besides it cutting-edge appearance, the sneaker also features adidas’ signature AdiPLUS midsole cushioning for modern comfort.

You can expect to see more innovative designs from Mr. Bailey and adidas Originals, as the duo has plans for a full “OZMORPHIS” development series. The new venture will build on Mr. Bailey’s understanding of natural sea structures and how they can inspire the footwear of the future.

The Mr. Bailey x adidas Originals “OZLUCENT” is expected to release soon, so be sure to check back with our Sneaker Release Dates page for updates. More details should be available shortly, but until then, follow @NiceDrops on Twitter.
