1985-86 Chicago Bulls

To imply that this season would be “rocky” for MJ and the Chicago Bulls would be a gross misrepresentation of adjectives. The legalistic verbiage aside, Michael would break his foot the third game of the season in which it seemed as though his season would be done.

According to Alexander Wolff of Sports Illustrated, the Chicago Bulls front office wanted MJ to sit out the rest of the season in order to secure a potential lottery pick within the 1986 NBA Draft. However, Michael had other plans. He ultimately threatened to spend his spring in North Carolina playing pickup games with former Tar Heels if the Bulls did not allow him to play. The front office surrendered and MJ helped lead the Bulls to the playoffs, despite having a 30-52 record.
