As an extension of its ongoing ASICS partnership, Kith taps Marvel to create an exlcusive collection for the 60th Anniversary of X-Men. Starring the ASICS GEL-LYTE III Remastered, the Marvel x Kith for X-Men 60th Anniversary Collection creates colorways inspired by the original X-Men characters.
Kith founder and creative director Ronnie Fieg designed seven custom versions: the “Beast,” “Cyclops,” “Gambit,” “Rogue,” “Storm,” and “Wolverine.” Each model has its own unique color-blocking and features the classic leather formstripe and split tongue.
Each sneaker is packaged in collectible sealed boxes and features original recreations of the 1992 Uncanny X-Men Series 1 Trading Cards, which are PSA-graded and randomly distributed with each shoe. Made by Upper Deck, the custom cards are finished with Marvel x Kith co-branding and Kith & PSA co-branding.
The Marvel x Kith x ASICS GEL-LYTE III Remastered “Beast” features a predominantly blue upper made from hairy pigskin suede, inspired by its namesake character. The Tiger Stripes are rendered in white leather, complementing the white GEL-cushioned midsole and sockliner.
The Marvel x Kith x ASICS GEL-LYTE III Remastered “Cyclops” has a mix of navy, royal blue, yellow, and red with a sports mesh vamp and quarter panels, while premium nubuck and leather overlays enhance the shoe’s appearance.
Premium nubuck is utilized throughout the upper of the Marvel x Kith x ASICS GEL-LYTE III Remastered “Gambit,” which features shades of tan, brown, and red accents.
Green and yellow cover the Marvel x Kith x ASICS GEL-LYTE III Remastered “Rogue.” The color palette embodies the X-Men character while the sneaker is crafted with pigskin suede, layered with smooth leather panels, while olive accents grace the Tiger Stripes and sockliner.
Inspired by her silver hair, the Marvel x Kith x ASICS GEL-LYTE III Remastered “Storm” features an upper crafted from pony hair in white and grey, contrasted by black leather Tiger Stripes.
The Marvel x Kith x ASICS GEL-LYTE III Remastered “Wolverine 1975” has a vintage appeal as the colorway was inspired by one of Wolverine’s earliest and most recognizable suits from 1975. The sneaker showcases yellow perforated pigskin suede on the vamp and quarter panels, with overlays in smooth blue and black leather.
Additionally, the Marvel x Kith x ASICS GEL-LYTE III Remastered “Wolverine 1980” also pays tribute to another vintage Wolverine suit, this time from 1980. The sneaker also features yellow perforated pigskin suede graces the vamp and quarter panels, while overlays in brown and red leather complete the design.
The Marvel x Kith for X-Men 60th Anniversary Collection will be available July 19th-23rd at San Diego Comic Con. Then, on July 28th the collection will release at all Kith shops, the Kith App, and 11AM EST on Kith.com.
