Chicago-based visual artist and designer Louis De Guzman has a unique sense of design, after all, he’s been designing colorful sculptures for several years. Previously, he’s worked on several clothing collaborations, including with Foot Locker on a special “Strength Within Unity” collaboration. In his latest works with Greenhouse, Foot Locker’s design incubator, De Guzman and New Balance team up on an artistic interpretation of the classic 574.
De Guzman, while best known for his abstract art surrounding cartoon characters, has instilled several of his best works on apparel pieces. With this 574, he uses a personal color pallet inspired by his current work entitled “In Between the Lines.” A mixture of colorful suede and leather materials appear throughout, with De Guzman curating the color-blocking similar to his current art pieces.
Along with the 574, De Guzman has designed additional clothing pieces for the upcoming collection. Nylon shorts, nylon jogging pants, socks, t-shirts, and hooded sweatshirts will be included.
The Louis De Guzman x New Balance 574 will release on December 7 through the Greenhouse application and then receive a wider release on December 8 through Foot Locker stores for $85.
